This golden, restaurant-quality salmon transforms into pure magic with just a simple honey-garlic glaze that caramelizes beautifully in the oven. The sweet honey perfectly balances the savory soy sauce and aromatic garlic, creating a glossy coating that keeps the salmon incredibly tender and flaky inside.

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and lemon juice in a medium bowl until completely combined.
  3. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag and pour half of the honey garlic mixture over them. Marinate for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Transfer the marinated salmon to your prepared baking dish and drizzle with the remaining glaze.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on thickness. The salmon is done when it flakes easily and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.
  6. Switch to broil mode for the final 2 minutes to achieve a beautiful caramelized glaze on top.
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

  • Check fillet thickness: Thick fillets (over 1 inch) need 15-18 minutes, while thinner pieces cook in 10-12 minutes.
  • Don’t skip the marinade: Even 15 minutes allows the honey and soy sauce to penetrate the fish.
  • Watch the broil carefully: Set a timer for 90 seconds during broiling.
  • Use fresh ginger properly: Grate ginger with the skin on for intense flavor.
  • Save some glaze: Reserve 2 tablespoons of the raw marinade for drizzling.
  • Test doneness gently: Press the center of the fillet with a fork.
